Fast Linear Actuator

Fast Linear Actuator KT0905-10H is a 5V DC micro rod with a 10 mm stroke, a 9 mm/s no-load speed, a 300 g push-pull force and a 10 kg self-locking hold, built into a 64 mm body for equipment that has very little room inside. It is the speed version of the KT0905 mini actuator family, so it is chosen when a small cover or slide has to move within about a second and stay quiet (≤50 dB) rather than push hard. Strokes of 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 mm are standard, and longer strokes can be customized.

Product Introduction

Products Description

Fast Linear Actuator KT0905-10H is the speed version of the KT0905 micro actuator family: a 5V DC rod that travels 10 mm at 9 mm/s no-load and 6 mm/s at full load, exerts a 300 g push-pull force, holds its position with a 10 kg self-locking force after the power has been removed, and does all of it inside a 64 mm body with a 9 mm outer tube. It is the part that opens, closes and holds a light cover, blade or slide in equipment that has no spare room and no noise budget - a hidden panel or port door on a consumer device, a lens privacy shutter on a Wi-Fi camera or a video doorbell, or a small baffle that has to clear an opening in about a second.

Mechanically it is a screw-driven telescopic rod with an external limit protection board, so the drive stops itself at the end of the stroke rather than being held against a mechanical stop. There is no travel switch to design in and no homing routine to write into the control board. The body and drive use 304 stainless steel and copper alloy, the load runs through a 9 mm outer tube around a 5 mm telescopic rod, and control needs only two leads: polarity sets the direction.

where 10 mm of travel goes

Each row is arithmetic on the parameter table further up this page.

Movement Basis Time
10 mm of travel, no load 10 mm at 9 mm/s About 1.1 s
10 mm of travel, full load 10 mm at 6 mm/s About 1.7 s
One open-and-close cycle, no load 1.1 s out plus 1.1 s back About 2.2 s
Shortest interval before the next stroke at the rated duty cycle 10% duty on a 1.1 s stroke About 11 s between strokes

Power and control: what the 5 V / 0.2 A pair means

At 5 V DC with a 0.2 A protection current the actuator belongs to the 1 W class of loads (5 V × 0.2 A, calculated), and it belongs there for about one second per movement. Inside a camera, a dispenser or a control panel that already runs a sensor, a radio and a display, that is a load the existing rail absorbs without a dedicated supply, a boost converter or a second cable run - and an internal 5 V part does not force the finished product to expose a higher-voltage path inside an enclosure the user can open.

Control is deliberately primitive, and that is a feature rather than a limitation. Two leads, positive and negative, reverse direction; the drive voltage sets the speed; the automatic stop at the end of the stroke means there is no encoder to read and no position loop to tune. Any board that can drive a small DC motor in both directions can drive this rod.

Noise and sealing: the ≤ 50 dB figure and the IP56 body

Two specifications decide whether this rod is acceptable in a product that sits in a room with people. The ≤50 dB noise figure is the one listed for this model and across the KT0905 series, and the movement helps it: the rod is screw-driven rather than impact-driven, the drive stops itself at the end of the stroke so nothing rattles against a stop, and the 9 mm/s speed is quick to the eye while still slow enough that the guide, not the motor, sets the sound level. The IP56 protection level describes a body that keeps dust out and tolerates water jets, which is the class of exposure this actuator meets on a device with an exposed face.

Two limits belong next to those strengths, because buyers check them. The noise figure is published without a measurement distance or mounting condition, so sound in a finished housing still depends on how the actuator is clamped and how stiff the surrounding cover is. And IP56 is a rating for this actuator as a component: it does not make a finished camera or appliance waterproof, because the final protection of a product is decided by its housing, gasket and seals.

Fast version or thrust version at the same 10 mm stroke

This model carries the letter H, which in the KT0905 series means the fast version. The letter L on the same 10 mm stroke means the thrust version. The mechanical envelope is shared and the choice between them is a single trade: speed against force.

Model Stroke Version Push-pull force No-load speed Full-load speed Typical mechanism
KT0905-10H (this page) 10 mm Fast 300 g 9 mm/s 6 mm/s Light blade, cover or slide that must move in about a second
KT0905-10L 10 mm Thrust 2 kg 2 mm/s 1.4 mm/s A latch bolt that has to throw against friction and stay thrown
KT0905-15L, 15H 15 mm Thrust / Fast 2 kg / 300 g 2 / 9 mm/s 1.4 / 6 mm/s Longer travel where the mechanism has more room
KT0905-20L 20 mm Thrust 2 kg 2 mm/s 1.4 mm/s A heavier panel or module that has to be raised
KT0905-25L 25 mm Thrust 2 kg 2 mm/s 1.4 mm/s Deeper mechanisms with a longer guide
KT0905-30L 30 mm Thrust 2 kg 2 mm/s 1.4 mm/s The longest standard stroke in the family

Manufacturing, testing and quality backing

The KT0905 family is made by the electric actuator division that KABASI set up in 2021, alongside an industrial electrical business that has been running since 2015, and the plant that machines the 304 stainless steel and copper alloy parts also inspects the finished rods before they are packed. Production and inspection run on dedicated equipment, and the instruments used are listed on the testing equipment page; see that page for the details. The patent and certificate position is set out under certification, the background of the manufacturer is on the about us page, and the service commitments behind an order are collected under why us. For a buying team, the useful point is not the certificate list itself but the fact that the dimensional and force figures on this page come from the same line that ships the parts.

Questions engineers ask before ordering

Q: What is the difference between the fast and thrust versions at 10 mm?

A: The same body, the same 10 mm stroke and the same 5 V DC supply, with the trade made in one direction. This H version moves at 9 mm/s no-load with a 300 g force; the thrust version moves at 2 mm/s with 2 kg. Choose by the resistance of the part, not by preference.

Q: Is 300 g enough force?

A: It is enough for a light, guided part with no spring preload, which covers most covers, blades and gates in this size class. It is not enough to compress a gasket, fight a return spring or break a stuck mechanism, and those duties belong to the thrust version.

Q: Does the KT0905-10H hold position with the power off?

A: Yes. The screw drive holds position mechanically at the rated 10 kg self-locking force, so the mechanism stays where it was left after the supply is removed, without drawing current.

Q: Does it need a driver or a position sensor?

A: No position sensor, and no special driver. Two leads reverse the direction, the drive voltage sets the speed, and the external limit protection board ends the stroke automatically.

Q: Can stroke, speed, force and cable be customized?

A: Yes. Standard strokes are 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 mm, and stroke, speed, force, lead length and connector can be customized for a programme.
